Story of a Mexican
$200.00
Description
I worked on this piece for six months. It gave me a lot of trouble because I went through a lot of different phases in the past semester, so it has a bunch of layers underneath the one that is visible.
The imagery on it is based on Aztec gods, the mythology of Mesoamerican cultures in the valley of Mexico, where I am from. The deities I depicted are:
<span class="colour" style="color: rgb(38, 38, 38);">TONATIUH - Sun and its relationship to human beings</span>
<span class="colour" style="color: rgb(38, 38, 38);">XOCHIQUETZAL - Maiden of beauty and female sexual power</span>
<span class="colour" style="color: rgb(38, 38, 38);">
QUETZACOATL - Creator of life and symbol of death
</span>
<span class="colour" style="color: rgb(38, 38, 38);">HUITZILOPOCHLI - Man of war
MEZTLI - Deity of the moon, goddess of femininity
It is a wooden block with collaged vintage paper glued to it. Then painted with acrylic and topped off with some natural decorations. Measures around 27" x 16"</span>
