Hey my name is Nikko and I am an artist from Oakland, CA and am currently living and working in Brooklyn, NY. I create to help understand the nonsensical reality of our modern world, and to escape the anguish of hiding in my own head. If my paintings are hard to understand, try to let go of the natural desire to have a full understanding of something. In the day to day there is already so much to understanding, and I believe art can be a break, a breath of refreshing mountain air in the midst of a polluted world. If there is any meaning to this existence, it is to love, to learn, and to express yourself and leave behind what you can. I would rather have my work be interesting than beautiful or technical, but I have the utmost respect for all methods of expression. XOXOXOX compassion and love 4L. All works are signed and dated. Please message me on @slimephrog on instagram or [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) if you have any questions! I am always happy to discuss my work or anything else that's on your mind.
Hi! I'm Emma, and I'm a New Media major at UMaine. I have minors in Graphic Design and Studio Art, and hopefully will be getting job in the design field once I graduate. I started my Etsy shop as a side gig just over a year ago, and hope to someday make that my full time job. In the meantime, I spend my time making new products, bullet journaling and managing my obsession with house plants.
I work primarily in pen and ink for illustration as well as oil/acrylic for painting. My work has adapted a black and white or muted aesthetic as I find it relaxes me. The process of creating work with Black ink on white paper, removes the chaos of the world and places intention each line while invoking a contrasting state of overstimulation and peace. I am an intuitive worker for the most part and often begin in one corner of a page and extend outward over a period of may days. I am senior undergraduate at the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences of Boston College majoring in Neuroscience and Studio Art. I have been engaged in art practice since middle school but became serious about pursuing a professional career in the arts shortly after beginning my art education at university which is where I discovered my passion for painting. After becoming deeply inspired during my early days of doing serious academic painting, I began to branch out into more independent projects, most significantly my brand Echoes by Max® where I sell original clothing items, prints, and commission custom works. Although I believe my best works to be acrylic and oil paintings, I also have significant experience with a wide range of other media like collage, colored pencil, Copic marker, watercolor and ink (pen & Sumi), charcoal, and pencil and am currently expanding my focus into more digitally based media. I believe that an expressionist impulse grounds all of my work and is maintained during my oscillation between abstract or figurative subject matters. Visual art is a non-linguistic medium through which I can engage with aspects of myself and the objects of my environment, represent them in a unique composition and consequently understand the focuses of my investigations more fully whether they revolve around dream content, real-life experiences, mythological archetypes, or scientific research.

Hello hello! My name is Joyce Downey and I'm a senior at Northeastern with a psychology major and an art minor. Growing up I always thought of myself as bad at art and so I avoided it, but high school I rediscovered fine arts and fell in love, getting very into drawing and painting. I decided to pursue an art minor, and for my first co-op worked in an art studio at Dana-Farber cancer institute, where I discovered and fell in love with all things crafting, mainly embroidery and knitting. After encouragement from many friends I ended up creating an art account - **@joyce\_creates** on Instagram. I have more ideas than I have time for and tend to dabble in many different areas depending on my interests at the moment- my current one figuring drawing. I feel so grateful to be able to create and share my artwork with you! Thanks for stopping by :)

Hellooo!!! My name is Amelia, I'm a 20-year-old Behavioral Neuroscience Major at Northeastern, and my sister Abby and I run an embroidery business called @sewphisticated\_ on Instagram. There, you'll find hand-made, one-of-a-kind embroidery pieces that we've made over the past 2 years. I can (and do!) embroider everything, such as clothing items, denim, canvases, shoes, guitar straps, and bags. I adore making custom pieces and am currently open to commissions!
I am a student at Northeastern University in Boston studying Architecture, and in my free time I love making art. In my little room on Mission Hill, I paint under color-changing LED light using bright, contrasting colors to create trippy, popping imagery that you could stare at for hours. My work ventures into themes of nature, space, and even time, and is always changing and evolving. I am self-taught, and my process can be described as controlled chaos - beginning from nothing, I'll work at random on the canvas until an idea takes hold. I use acrylic paint, oil pastel, POSCA paint markers, and other mediums, usually all together. I also make digital art using Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D modeling softwares like Rhinoceros 3D. Follow me on instagram to check out some of my work and support me: @tunastuff :)

I am a young artist attending college for Robotics Engineering. I chose robotics because I grew up on science fiction movies, and I believe that as an engineer, we can create the technology only currently seen on television. I have sold my artwork at Boston Comic Con and other large comic conventions. I now have an Etsy shop and was brought in by The Cubby to share my work among other amazing student creators. I draw digitally, draw with traditional mediums, paint in acrylics and oils, and have done leatherwork (as seen in my profile picture), stained glass work, blacksmithing, etc. and I will continue exploring creative practices in my art business but also in the field of engineering. My artwork mainly focuses on the macabre, superheroes, science fiction, and plants but I have a range of content. Check me out on samgrilloart on Instagram to stay up to date with my latest work! 🤖🌿🦇 ps. Cthulhu is my favorite subject to draw.

Hello all! My name is Marina, or as some of you may know me from my Instagram, Woorat Designs. I am a junior chemical engineering major with a concentration in biology. I believe that art should be practical, which is why I choose to create wearable pieces. The items that I produce are embroidered or reworked secondhand garments, as reducing carbon emissions and water used to create new textiles is a priority of mine. I try to keep the prices of my items as low as possible to give young consumers a more sustainable alternative to fast fashion. Let me know with any questions you have, and enjoy my shop! I am open to commissioned pieces, don't hesitate to reach out if interested!
Rachael Murphy, born in Massachusetts, spent her childhood on Cape Cod and in the Boston area. Murphy’s interest in artmaking is inspired by the artists in her family. Rachael oscillates between realistic imagery and abstract forms, depending on the chosen media. Her style employs complex patterns and colors to make up larger, sometimes recognizable forms. Rachael sees her work as a vehicle for processing personal interactions with the world and how they fold into more significant societal issues. Rachael began her studies at The Massachusetts College of Art and Design before transferring to the University of Maine. She currently resides in Orono, Maine, pursuing BAs in Studio Art, Art History, and Art Education; and is set to graduate in the Fall of 2021. Rachael aspires to establish a broader understanding of the art world through multiple degrees of study and internships. Rachael has experience researching and framing artwork. She also worked as a curatorial intern with the Zillman Art Museum from 2019-2020. In addition, she is an assistant with an ongoing, large-scale inventory project for abstract-expressionist Harold Garde’s life work. These experiences have exposed Murphy to various artists, past and active, who use both 2D and 3D media.

My name is Soraya Saghbini, I'm a third year biochemistry student at UCLA. I was born in Beirut (Lebanon) and grew up in the United Arab Emirates. I came up with "SooS' Artsy Shit" at the end of my freshman year, but never really thought it could go anywhere. It all started out as a way to relieve stress and a way to disconnect from the harsh reality that we live in. SooS is a creative space where I hope to to connect with you through the love and appreciation of art. My designs reflect the idea of spontaneity and catharsis... The creative journey starts when I pick up a pen and let it glide across the canvas, allowing my subconscious to create these patterns. Art is the expression of one's creative skill and imagination. Each design is suppose to be interpreted differently by each and everyone of you.
